I love this series for balancing a still semi-authentic regency setting with its challenges surrounding race and class and sex and gender while still telling happy stories full of diverse characters. I also feel these books contain some of the healthiest, most supportive romances I have ever read. Please feel free to include any other characters or to go as ensemble as you want, even though I'm prompting specifically for Ahmad and Evelyn.
I'd love more romantic fluff or slice of life stuff for this couple. The two of them enjoying fashion whether that's for clients or for themselves, riding together, time entertaining with their friends, spending a day out, attending a ball together or family time once they've become parents. Or give me hurt/comfort, whether that's of the mild illness variety, healing from basic injuries, or supporting each other through some kind of difficulty. I enjoy finding the love story at the heart of most action movies and this one is just perfection. I love Annie and Tom together and I just want more of them being happily in love. I enjoy that everyone else boggles over the idea that Annie’s trust, respect, and love could possibly be worth millions but Tom never wavers, where does that certainty come from? Similarly Annie is able to choose Tom fairly quickly after she confirms he’s not a killer, what has she grown to love about him that makes her certain he’s a good man? There's so much we don't see of their building romance between their meet-cute at the Aurora Storage and the point where Tom thinks “I really need to decide what to do with these stolen millions of dollars” and I want any part of that from the lovely getting to know you first dates to that point where they go looking at their home. Show me what they love about each other beyond the intelligent banter and Annie’s capacity to be understanding in this deeply unusual and bad situation.
Something set post-canon is also very welcome! How do they stay connected while Tom serves his sentence? Does Annie have someone to confide in? I'm happy for that person to be Sean, if you want or an OC best friend or family member. Or what is life like for them once Tom’s sentence is served? How do they build a future together now that this secret and its aftermath is behind them? What does Tom do with his life beyond his commitment to make Annie happy? Most frivolously, does she paint the walls yellow?

I love legal shows for their happy endings and good people almost always win approach to the universe where the entire legal system is devoted to the truth and justice. So if you want to ignore all the prompts below and just give me a story about a case in the spirit of the show, I would absolutely love to see anyone tackle a legal issue you're passionate about.
Original Jane Bingum | Britney:
I'm fascinated by the original Jane as a person. Both the version of her we meet briefly in the afterlife and as Britney, but also the impression we get of her beforehand from the life she's left behind for Deb to pick up. As a result, if you wanted to write something featuring original Jane, I'm equally excited for stories set in her original life pre-canon, or more of her watching and reacting at Deb-as-Jane’s choices, or something set in her new life as Britney. Is she as lonely as canon portrayed her to be, or was that just Deb's perception? Does she regret saving Parker? Are there any of Deb's choices, Jane is particularly glad about? Does she come to love Britney's life? Does she have a good rapport with her angel?
Deb Dopkins | Jane Bingum:
For the sake of clarity, I’m going to use Deb in this section to refer to Deb | Jane. I love Deb for her determination, her resilience, and her adaptability. I love that she was firm on not accepting she was dead but was ultimately willing to embrace Jane’s life as her own while also being aware she owed a duty to Jane herself. I love the place where Deb’s knowledge from her own life helps her to get a new perspective or even win a case. I love the balance she manages to achieve in maintaining some ties to her old life like Stacy and with her mom while not neglecting people important to Jane’s life. Above all though I love that she's kind and embraces her talents both new and old to help other people. I want just more of her being happy whether that's a courtroom win, time spent with friends or any of her angels, a self-care day, or a snapshot of her Italian vacation.
Kim Kaswell:
I really love Kim. Her role as the love-to-hate antagonist in the beginning is so well done it's scary. But later we learn she does care about her clients and her son and kids more generally. This softer side to her personality is also well executed. I especially like moments where she brings both her manipulative ruthlessness and her hard-won compassion to bear on a problem. Besides watching her excel as a lawyer, I loved seeing her embrace motherhood after her son was born. So I’d love straight up baby fluff or seeing her just enjoy a well-deserved day off.
Worldbuilding (Drop Dead Diva):
I'm just going to throw out a bunch of questions in this section. Feel free to tackle as many or as few as you want while using whichever characters make sense to you. Was Deb really the first person ever to use return or did they just say that to keep her from connecting with others and possibly spread the idea? Where do angels come from and what are most of them doing? Why did Fred, Luke, and Paul have such different personalities and approaches to their job as Deb’s guardian angel? If Paul is right that Jane’s inability to tell Grayson that she is Deb was mostly about her than why did Fred and Luke both sabotage attempts to tell him and why were both Grayson and Owen nearly killed when she got close to sharing? Conversely if there are consequences to alerting people you're back from the dead, why were Ian and Britney both able to tell Jane so easily? Why wasn't Britney offered an opportunity to be close to her old life in the way Jane & Ian are able to stay in touch with people that Deb & Grayson cared about?
I would prefer a more gen take for this fandom over a ship-centered one. Romance brought so much drama to these woman's lives, but any background canonical ships are fine.

This was a breakout new fave for me and I am so disappointed it was canceled. It had all of the feel-good triumph of a legal show with so much tropey fun and some great family sitcom antics thrown in. I would be thrilled to spend more time in this universe whether that's tagging along with Todd on an investigation or watching someone at Crest, Folding and Song win another unusual case, or pulling up a chair at another Wright family dinner. I specifically requested Margaret Wright because she doesn't have any fic centered on her yet, and I don't think any So Help Me Todd plot would be fun without her in it. I admire that she's trying to do her best to love her adult kids and that even though she wildly misses the mark sometimes, it's clear they have all become talented, clever, fundamentally decent people. I also love her work-friendship with Francey, her various rivalries with Beverly and Gus and so on, and I'm especially fond of her friendship/mentorship with Susan. If you're setting your fic within season 2, I’d love to see what ripple effects being honest earlier might have had. Or was Margaret secretly honest and the relationship tensions are all just part of a plot to take down Folding? Either way, please give me anyone you include being on good terms with her again.

I would love more of Johnny 5 living his best life whether that's with Stephanie and Newton on their farm or soaking up input in another big city with lots of culture and sights to take in. I love watching him learn and delight in the joy of being alive. I would love moments where others recognize and affirm his personhood. I like seeing the world through his ocular circuitry. I'm here for missing scenes from either movie, fic set between the movies, or after the second movie.
If you want to include other canon characters, I like both Newton and Stephanie as they are, and I love the way they both to grow to accept and fight for Johnny. I like Fred from the sequel. If you want to include Ben, please avoid making him the subject of jokes or a point of comic relief. Write him as the brilliant and compassionate roboticist canon should have.
Optionally I would also love any kind of crossover where he gets to interact with another robot or machine-based AI who could understand his struggles. Marion is living in the ashes of a world she and her coworkers have mostly forgotten, and a life she’s mostly forgotten — I want to know more about that world, and about that life, and how she copes with the insanity of it all. (And about her marriage. OMG I am actually so insane about her marriage!!) I’m also a huge sucker for whump, hurt/comfort, etc, and this is an excellent canon for that sort of thing. Also, I'd love a fic that explored the presence of 4987 in her life, or anything to do with WILD LIGHT.

Kris: I really enjoy her hyper-pragmatic, calculated efficiency, her control-freak tendencies and the possessiveness with which she effortlessly dominates her crew. I want to know more about the colony she comes from and her working relationship with Terrence and Barry and why she’s Like That, and about what happens to her in the show’s final scene. I love the verbiage in these stories to the skies, and I would love anything that made a good-faith effort at capturing the feeling of Felix and Mildmay's entanglement, with or without the language, with or without smut, with or without Romance. I am interested in any story you care to write where Mildmay finds Felix terrifying and irresistible, whether what's irresistible is his manly charms and his manly chest, or his absolutely appalling manners. I have yet to get over the worst story Mildmay knows about hocuses, which really set the story up for some Felix/Mildmay, in my considered opinion. If you don't feel the smut vibe, then them being their weird selves about each other, gen like canon, with all their clothes on, while they're pretending they're normal about each other, is just fine.
