Interview with the Vampire (TV 2022) RPF

So I'm basically just totally enamored of everything to do with AMC's IWTV, including the cast and crew. I haven't felt this way about a cast/crew since LotR, honestly. They're all so wonderful (and talented, and dedicated to the project), and it just makes me so happy to see how much they enjoy spending time with each other on top of all the rest.
And the close friendship between Sam and Jacob is just so utterly delightful to witness. I love that they like to get ice cream together, that they shop for stickers (stickers! <3) together, that they eat their meals together while filming, that they made up their own (friend)ship name, and that they're constantly texting each other, and they hang out together whenever they have a chance, and they go do geeky things together at cons, and, and, *and*... And oh, I loved hearing Eric describe them as "puppies" who are constantly following each other around. I love when interviewers ask one of them when was the last time they talked to the other, and the answer is always something along the lines of, "Uh, 20 minutes ago? We're going to get ice cream once I'm done." And I love how Jacob helps calm Sam's nerves during panels with a pat on the back or a quiet word, and how he says Sam is the most important professional relationship that he's ever experienced, and how they both talk so fondly about how much they care about each other and how supportive they find the other to be. I just love that they're basically joined at the hip, and that while IWTV is giving us an amazing adaptation, it's also forging this deep well of friendship and love between Sam and Jacob (and the rest of the cast!).
So. We also all know that everyone (fans and cast/crew alike) like to joke that Sam is possessed by Lestat. (I mean, Hannah Moscovitch recently shared a story about her 8 year old son coming to the Theatre set and he happily hung out with everyone while they were kitted out in their vampire eyes, but absolutely refused to say hi to Sam because her son was convinced he was an actual vampire...and then she lied and told Sam her son had gone home so that Sam wouldn't be sad the kid was scared of him! <3) I would love a story that leans into that conceit! Either Sam or Jacob is slowly turning into a vampire. What does that look like? Why/how is it happening? Is their personality largely the same, or is their behaviour shifting? How does the other one feel about it? Do they notice? Does the person who is becoming a vampire realize what's happening? Was it on purpose? Is this method acting at its most extreme, or a weird accident?
Play it however you want. Is this a delightfully ridiculous and upbeat tale that folds in lots of ice cream dates and sticker trading and general adorable, sweet hangouts while one of them slowly turns? Is this a dark, gothic tale of slow corruption that shifts the whole production into a real horror? Is it something in between?
Also, obviously RPF is not reflective of real life, and both Jacob and Sam are in wonderful relationships with lovely women. But since this is fiction, if you want to bring in a romance between the two of them (either before or after the vampirism happens), I am a-ok with it!
Finally, I love the whole cast and crew, so if you want to include others, have at it. Totally optional and at your discretion, but I am curious what any of them (including Rolin!) would think/observe about this transformation, and whether they'd catch on faster than either half of Jam Reiderson. (This is also a fandom where I'm ok with nicknames of any sort, specifically because the actors use them themselves in playful and affectionate ways.)

Killjoys (TV)

I adore Johnny and Dutch a lot, I love their friendship, and I love how much the show prioritized that relationship and didn't sideline it when it introduced love interests for the two of them. (Although I am not anti-romance in the show either!) I also really love Khlyen. I just do! When he was largely the villain, he was a great villain. And when the show revealed his motivations and background and complicated the hell out of him, I was even more on board. (It also helps that he's a silver fox. Just sayin'.)
I would love a story where John and Khlyen end up trapped together for whatever reason, and Dutch (with or without support) has to rescue Johnny (and/or Khlyen, depending on how you want to approach it). I'm down for Khlyen kidnapping Johnny for nefarious (or not-so-nefarious) reasons, or to protect him (against his will). I'm also here for a big misunderstanding of some kind (where John and/or Dutch thinks he's been abducted, but that's not quite what's happened; or John has somehow accidentally abducted Khylen, who is amused and letting it play out for his own reasons), or for Khlyen and John to legitimately end up in peril together.
Feel free to have Dutch do the rescue alone, or have other characters support her! While I am just asking for these three, I love pretty much everyone in the show (including Lucy!), so if there's someone(s) you want to write in as well, go for it!
If those scenarios don't capture your imagination, I'd also love something post-series, where Khlyen is instrumental in "bringing the band back together," so to speak, after John's year-long sabbatical. Obviously, this requires a few more acrobatics, given Khlyen's, um, situation after Season 4 and the end of Season 5, but I'm sure there's ways to get him back up to speed, right? Whether that's an echo of him, a copy, a memory, or the actual Khlyen.
Regardless, I'm here for all the complicated, messy feelings, for Johnny in the role as a (self-rescuing?) princess/damsel, for the real affection and love between Dutch and John, for the fun banter and quiet moments and exciting adventures and badass action. (And honestly, if you want to explore some flavour of John/Khlyen, I wouldn't say no.)
I just want more of John and Dutch (and Khlyen!), whatever shape you give that. They are amazing, and they're even more amazing together. He is her gravity, after all. <3
(I'd prefer no current John/Rennika, please. Past is fine if needed, I just wasn't 100% on board with the ship.)

Oh, John. I love this arrogant bastard and his never-ending tragedy. I love the ways he escapes death over and over, but is basically a lightning rod for death and tragedy when it comes to his friends. I love that as much as he pretends he doesn't care about anyone but himself, the problem is he does care, deeply, as much as he'd rather not.
And I am so intrigued by Manny, by all his secrets, and still frustrated that we never got to see that play out.
I would love, love, love a story where Manny's manipulations and secrets finally boil to the surface. What happens when John finds out Manny is not who he says he is? What does John look like in the face of such a scope of betrayal? What does he do once he finds out Manny has not only been manipulating him, but is the very evil that Constantine has been fighting against?
Do you want to write about Constantine falling in further with Manny, completely unaware of who he is and what he is up to until the last moment? Do you want to start with John finding out? Do you want to push their relationship towards romance? Hatesex? Do you want the reader to see Manny's manipulations, while John is still in the dark? Do you want to write about the exact ways John looks to take revenge/take down/hurt/destroy Manny once his betrayal has been revealed? How does he find out? Do you want to write a full-blown revenge tale? Any of this is great! All of this is great! Take what you want and run with it!
I would love to know whether John himself is an "avenging angel," or if his reaction to betrayal is something different. However you want to explore this, I am along for the ride. I just want to know what happens when the inevitable happens. What shape does that take, how does it happen, what does it mean for the two of them? Where do they go from here? How does this end? Is there an end?

So, things didn’t shake out so well for the Prince and Seneschal at the end of the series. And, well...the possibility of their survival was not looking great. So what I would love is a story that fixes that. What scenario has them escaping the attacks of the Second Inquisition to live on? Have they gone to ground? Are they returning to the Old World to lick their wounds? Will they rise in power again, in L.A. or somewhere else? Are they heeding the Beckoning and leaving for the Middle East? Something else? I'd love to see what you think. And, I mean, really, I just want them to continue the great love story that is their unlives together, having survived the disaster that has befallen L.A. (Obviously, I ship them hard.)
I also love, love, love the scheming, conniving, charismatic and charming Chaz, and I would love to see him as accessory/obstacle to whatever you have planned for Vannevar and Suzanne. Is he truly loyal to them and fully committed to helping them in whatever way possible? Is he scheming to make sure however things shake out for them, they shake out better for him? I would be over the moon if you brought him into their bedroom/relationship, too. Do they see him as essential? Are one or both of them fond of him? Do they not trust him as far as they can throw him, but need him (for whatever reason) all the same?
Messy vampires with complicated romances? Sign me up!
And just because I love the three of them doesn't mean I need you to lean on romance tropes to the exclusion of all else. I love court intrigue; I love vampire politics and backstabbing; I love the contrast between the monstrosity of the vampire and the intense passions of long-living, functionally immortal humans. (And while I haven't included him here, I do love Greg too, so if you had your heart set on writing him, feel free to include him!)

I nominated this without characters to leave things open for a writer and because I think a story for this fandom could go in so many directions! I'd love something that leans into an eerie sense of place, follows the shifting alliances and power dynamics of the faerie courts, or explores what it means to have a wish granted in these circumstances. What drives young ladies to this extremity? Do they go into it thinking they understand all the risks? What benefit does their service bring to the fairy courts? What drives the chess-mistresses, what bargains have the Fairy Queens made and how have they twisted the keeping of them, what secrets spell the end of their power?
I'd be equally into a fic that ends without changing the status quo of the courts, a fic showing the destruction of the courts as hinted at the end of the short story (or maybe an exploration of what comes after, either on a personal level for any of the character types in canon or on a larger level), or a fic where one young lady does manage to escape (though not, I assume, without leaving something very important behind).
There are so many possibilities here for fraught gen or shippy interactions between different courts, between mortals and fairies, between the young lady who went to the courts and the person she went for--and I'm there for any of: complicated power dynamics, one-sided affection, star-crossed-love, lovers-to-enemies or rivals-to-allies or any shifting iteration on similar patterns you want. Though see below for DNWs on M/F or M/M-focused romance fic.
If you're into less traditional formats, this fandom seems like particularly fertile ground for experimenting with form, POV, or or something like interactive fiction. I would prefer a story in second- or third-POV for this fandom, but that's not a hard DNW.

I'm a sucker for characters who have mutual respect but conflicting priorities, and we see so much of that in this fandom! I am open to a story about all these characters or the following groupings, with some notes on each:
Eddis | Helen & Attolia | Irene & the Magus:
Give me all the shifting alliances, the backroom dealings, the twisty politics! Or just an exploration of how these three think of each other on a personal level, since I imagine that goes through some serious changes over the course of the books but we get to see very little of it on page.
Eddis | Helen & Hector | Minister of War:
I would love to learn more about how the Minister of War chose to support his niece's claim to the throne and how they cemented her reign together. What was their perspective on personal and political events throughout the books? How did they grapple together with what Helen knows about Eddis' future?
Eddis | Helen & the Magus:
I headcanon Eddis/politics/the magus, where politics get firmly in the way because both of them have bigger things at stake, but I'm interested in everything from pure gen here to a forbidden romance, as long as they both prioritize their countries over their personal lives in the end.
In addition to the notes above, canon divergence or something set in the future would also be loads of fun for this fandom. The Minister of War does somehow become Eddis instead of his niece? Political alliances through an Eddis/Attolia marriage? Eddis does wind up marrying Sounis the Elder early in the books, and the fallout of all that? The three countries somehow manage to keep the peace in Queen of Attolia--how do they do it, what do they each gain, and what do they each give up? Fic about each queen coming to power, how she cemented it and how the other requested characters reacted at the time?
Re: ships--if you want to include any, I like all the canon relationships as well as Eddis/Attolia or (as mentioned) Eddis/the magus.
I'd rather not too much focus on Eugenides--fine if he's a part of the story or if they're dealing with the ramifications of his actions, but I'd also love to see who these characters are when they're center stage.

Shogun (TV 2024)

This was one of my favorite shows of 2024! Atmospheric and visually stunning, twisty politics everywhere, and the personal inextricably caught up in the political in ways that are absolute catnip to me.
I found Mariko's character incredibly compelling and was fascinated by her relationship to Toranaga. I would love to see further exploration of that--not only by seeing the two of them interacting directly (though I wish they'd had more one-on-one scenes and would love to read some) but also by seeing them respond to or affect one another from more of a distance. It would be fine to have a story focused on Mariko's perspective where Toranaga is rarely present on-page, for example, as long as his influence is felt throughout. That could include missing scenes from Mariko's youth, details of her father's death and Mariko coming to understand Toranaga's plans afterward, the development of her loyalty to him and the ways in which that's due to family duty vs. personal inclination. How much of her obedience to him is reluctant, and how much comes from genuine trust?
I love canon divergence AUs, and there could be loads of interesting ones for this fandom with all kinds of domino effects. Mariko's marriage is arranged to someone else, for different advantages--perhaps she becomes consort to the late Taikō instead of Ochiba, and Toranaga finds ways to use this? Or she's even married off to Toranaga himself? Her father isn't the one to kill Lord Nobuhisa?
Ships for this fandom: I'm fine with explorations of Mariko's canonical relationships with her husband and Blackthorne as long as the main focus is on Mariko herself, or how those relationships are useful to Toranaga. I'm also interested in her history with Lady Ochiba and am very very open to Mariko/Ochiba. Other references to canon ships are totally fine.

I would love an exasperated outsider's look at the adventures of Indiana Jones. Ideally someone coming in after the fact who has no idea how these people kept their jobs - I've provided some examples below as a jumping-off point but go wild.
An exhausted grad student studying X period/culture who is always very frustrated because item ABC in the collection would be so freaking useful for their work except that Jones is the one who brought it in and his idea of documentation was laughable even for the time so there's almost no actually useful information attached.
An employee who's trying to digitize department archives and Dr. Jones' records are frequently not on paper and they've had to get the chemistry and biology departments involved because there's some sort of substance on them and nobody knows if it's toxic or not.
Someone who's working up the collection with an eye to repatriating artifacts but is having a heck of a time because so many of the items Dr. Jones donated have no provenance.

One of the best Shakespeare performances I ever saw was a version of Tempest where Penn and Teller designed the stage magic. Absolutely captivating. Lean into the magic - what sort of stuff does Prospero study? What about the experiments that go dramatically wrong? Does Miranda try to learn any of the magic? Does Prospero learn the hard way that magic books should be kept out of the reach of small children when his toddler accidentally turns him blue? You could do a lost scene, an excerpt from Prospero's journals, have fun with it.

I recently re-read The Curse of Chalion -- at the end, Umegat is an ex-saint struggling with the aftereffects of a severe traumatic brain injury. He has his friends, he's re-learning how to read, and he says that he hopes his god has some interesting task for him before the end. Though hopefully not one involving animals, or royalty.
I would like a story about Umegat -- I would like to know what task he gets next, and what he does. Alternately, I would also like a story about Umegat before we meet him in Curse of Chalion -- growing up in the Archipelago, escaping, his first experience with sainthood (it's clear that the menagerie is not the first time he's hosted a miracle.) Or for that matter, a story about Umegat and the menagerie and how he came to be ""given"" to the Roya: Umegat complains that the Bastard does not write him messages, so how did he come to realize what the menagerie was for, and why his role there was so critical? How did doing his daily duties as they came to him result in this Sainted Divine arriving in Cardegoss with a couple of gorgeous leopards and realizing that somehow, they kept the Roya from dying?
If we matched on Worldbuilding: I love this world and am particularly fascinated by the role of the gods and their saints. Some prompts: a modern AU with the five gods and their roles mapped onto a world more like our own. Something that would show me how the Rusylli interact with the gods. Any real-world culture that we have not visited, mapped onto the world of the Five Gods, and what it's like there.

When this book finished, I just wanted ... more. Where do they go next, what do they do? I should note, I actively don't want a romance between Gav and Eliasha -- I want their friendship to strengthen, I want them to have each others' backs, and I want them to find new and interesting ways to undermine both the ""Heroes"" and the ""Villains"" in this world and support the common people in surviving and thriving. I strongly suspect that a big part of Gav's journey to the Dark Side originally involved resentment about not being popular with women, and I want him to focus on platonic relationships for a while.

Sooo if we matched on this, I probably know who you are and trust your judgement completely, but even if you're not who I think you are, if you offered Malazan and more specifically Seren, I'm sure it's going to be good. I'm not a fan of kid fic so if you want to go for post canon timeline stuff, I'd prefer the focus to be somewhere other than Seren discovering the bliss of motherhood, but obviously the kid exists and I'm not expecting you to ignore him altogether. If you want other ideas, I'm especially intrigued by Seren and Hull's doomed relationship, or that Bluerose officer who taught her to ride (...a horse, but I won't be mad if other kind of riding also happens).
